What Exactly Is Napwell?

Napwell was a sleeping mask with an alarm clock built in. The Napwell is a device that gently wakes you up after a good night’s sleep by using graded lighting. Engineers from MIT and Stanford created it.

The LED lights of the Napwell gradually brighten to gently wake you up without disturbing your mate or sounding an alarm. Because of the countdown timer, Napwell can be used for both naps and nighttime sleep.

Who Is Napwell’s Founder?

The founders of Napwell, Justin Lee (MIT) and Neil Joglekar (Stanford), went on Shark Tank to pitch their idea Napwell.

Neil Joglekar was a seasoned entrepreneur who had founded two successful firms. Cardinal Tutors, a successful Bay Area tutoring service, and Reelsurfer, an online video editing program, were developed by the Stanford graduate.

When I reconnected with Justin Lee, a former classmate, in 2013, he too had an impressive resume. Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from MIT as well as a Doctorate in Health, Science, and Technology from a Harvard-MIT joint program.

Justin was previously featured on CNN for putting a digital camera into orbit to capture Earth. Justin just spent $150 on the project.

Their goal was to create a device that would assist people in living more productive and efficient lives. They began without any specific product in mind; rather, they began with a problem, specifically a lack of efficiency in many factors, and sought a solution.

Awakening unexpectedly is frequently accompanied with sleep inertia or a fuzzy feeling induced by disrupted sleep cycles.

Neil and Justing exited the Shark Tank stage without a contract with the Sharks.

Napwell and Sharks did not reach an agreement.

Justin confesses that he and he could have been more persuasive to the sharks that Napwell had a huge market, but he understands that the company would prosper without their assistance.

Regrettably, the organization hasn’t accomplished much in the 18 months since the Napwell program aired.The delivery of Napwell masks to backers of the first Kickstarter campaign has been delayed.

On May 30th, 2016, Napwell still assured backers who hadn’t gotten their masks that the final batch of 550 masks would be sent in July 2016.
Additional details about the final production run are available on the Kickstarter campaign, however they are only visible to previous funders of the project.

For the time being, the causes of the Napwell production delays remain unknown. Customers can pre-order a Napwell mask through the company’s website, but they are advised that delivery may be delayed until September 2015; this, combined with the updates on Kickstarter, suggests that only a small number of Napwell masks have been pre-ordered. The entire Napwell operation appears to have been left to languish and die.

Napwell receives no mentions from his 9,000 followers, despite the fact that he tweets frequently. Neil may be concluding Napwell isn’t a feasible option and will stop the project once the final batch of masks ordered is delivered.

After the misery of being rejected by the sharks, Neil and Justin may have concluded that it was preferable to let Napwell die quietly, avoiding the suffering of a long-drawn-out death.

CrossLead, a cloud-based firm launched in 2011 by retired General McChrystal, has appointed Neil Joglekar as its Head of Product. The General is most known for commanding US forces in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010.

Since his retirement, McChrystal has been developing cloud-based productivity tracking software for enterprises. He used his skills to help improve the United States’ counter-terrorism operation.
